Minister Akins (b. 1990) is a filmmaker and electronic music artist that lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. A native of North Carolina, Akins grew up in an African-American Pentecostal preacher's family. Giving himself the artist name Minister Akins pays homage to his upbringing and his mission to communicate messages through his work. His artistic expression depends upon video technology and electronic sound production, often capturing subjects in movement and dance on camera.

As a self-taught artist, he started creating videos, electronic sound compositions and directing other artist music videos to develop his practice. His work has been featured in many online publications, including Interview, Vman, and Paper Magazine. In 2015, Vice Media featured him as one of 10 artists tackling social issues of today.
